For the past 28 years, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change has actively combated climate change issues. As technology and human development evolve over the years, the risk of climate change has been increasing, and nations have gathered at the UNFCCC Conference of Parties (COP) to debate and agree on how members of every society can overcome climate change.
At the 28th edition of COP, countries, including Nigeria, will renew pledges and agreements to curb climate change. However, to combat climate change, Nigeria must move beyond steering only climate change discussions and commitments. Nigeria needs to cater to the nitty gritty beyond these discussions by putting in the work and actions to achieve the set plan, especially through stakeholder commitment.
